I am on the move…

to Éalá Éarendel. My reason for starting a new blog is that for a long time now I have found it difficult to get the most out of Myrmicat Forever. I’ve thought about the reasons for this and I think it is because the blog has been too diffuse in terms of what it is about, and the lack of a centre has made it difficult for me to concentrate on.

Conversely, ever since I made the decision to knuckle down with my Alexander the Great blog – about a year ago – I have been going great guns with it. Yes, there have been one or two points where I have not written for a while, but as soon as I have returned to doing so I have been able to pick up where I left off. Why? Because I know what the blog is about; it has a centre from which I’ve been able to work.

I could have just stopped Myrmicat Forever and concentrated on The Second Achilles but I love books too much to do that, hence Éalá Éarendel. It’s ‘centre’ will be Anglo-Saxon and Mediaeval prose and poetry – my favourite literary period – which I am starting to explore again 18 years after I found it for the first time at university. I will also try and write more about my most favourite writer, J R R Tolkien.

I will also be writing about more general literary matters. But, instead of being competing centres, they will appear as planets in orbit around the sun of low and high mediaeval literature.

I will be deleting Myrmicat Forever in due course so I hope to see you over at Éalá Éarendel.
